Black tea, usually stronger in flavour and higher in caffeine is made from tea leaves which are more heavily oxidized than green or oolong teas.

Tipically, black loose leaf teas should be prepared with freshly boiled water and steeped 3-4 minutes or 4-5 minutes for black tea served with lemon or milk.
